2010 MD/AAU TRACK & FIELD OUTSTANDING ATHLETES, COACHES, and VOLUNTEERS

Athletes competed in AAU Meet Series in Maryland in 9 different age divisions for both girls and boys. These are based on year of birth, and are Primary (8 & under), Sub-Bantam (9 yrs), Bantam (10 yrs), Sub-Midget (11 yrs), Midget (12 yrs), Sub-Youth (13 yrs), Youth (14 yrs), Intermediate (15-16), and Young Men & Women (17-18).


The Maryland District Track & Field Championship was held on June 12-13, at Catoctin High School in Thurmont, MD. The top four individuals or relays in each division received medal.  There were 9 divisions for both male and females.  All participants advanced to the National Qualifier. The top 4 individuals or relays in each division advanced to the National Championship and received medal. The AAU Junior Olympics Games Track & Field National Championship was held on August 1-8 at the Norfolk State University in Norfolk, VA. The top 8 individuals or relay received medals.

Maryland had 61 athletes to win medals, 32 female and 29 male. They won 75 awards, including 8 ALL AMERICAN CHAMPIONS, and one National Record.

AthleticsThe sport of Athletics covers Track & Field, Racewalking, Multi-Events, and Cross Country. 

Our goal is to provide as many Maryland youth members as possible, an oppotunity to compete in the AAU National Championships.

You need JavaScript enabled to view it is the Current Director for this sport, assisted by Mary Haynes for Track & Field, and Darcy Strouse for Cross Country.  2010 had 31 club registered in our sport.  We also had 538 female athletes and 728 male athletes registered, along with 63 coaches abd volunteers.

Maryland has one AAU Cross Country event in 2010.  It is to be held on Sunday, November 7, 2010 at Ballenger Creek Park in Frederick, MD.  This meet is the Qualification for the AAU Cross Country National Championship (12/4/10) in Orlando, FL.  Information for the Maryland AAU Meet can be found at  http://www.lrcrun.org/MD_Youth_XC_Schedule_-_Fliers.php,or contact Darcy Strouse, at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Maryland plans to have two AAU Track & Field Events in 2011.  Both meets are planed to held in the Baltimore area.

The Maryland District Championship is tenatively planed to be held on June 11 & 12, 2011.  The Area 3A National Qualifier is tenatively planed to be held on June 30 thru July 3, 2011.  More Information is to come.
